Our Mission
Kat and Emmanuel of Naturewise Regenerative Design work with people living in the city to co-create climate resilient living by working with Nature and her processes.
Through consulting, designs, workshops, and public speaking, they show how to design urban ecosystems, save water, grow food & medicine, and generate electricity & fuel while reducing the effects of drought, floods, extreme temperatures, and fires brought on by climate change.
Our Business
Naturewise Regenerative Design is a licensed and insured business located in Long Beach, California and serving the Southern California area.
Our business is a certified Green Business through the State of California Green Business Network.
Both Kat and Emmanuel are certified Permaculture Designers through the Permaculture Research Institute.
Naturewise Regenerative Design was a recipient of the California Dream Fund Program in Fall of 2022.
Kat and Emmanuel are verified designers for Long Beach Water Department's Lawn to Garden program.
Our Experience
Kat and Emmanuel bring a rich, diversity of skills and experience to their design and consulting work.
Kat has over 21 years of experience in gardening, working with plants, and is currently Head Gardener of a thriving community garden in Long Beach. Additionally she is very knowledgeable about herbal remedies, companion planting, and methods of plant propagation and growing.
Emmanuel has over 12 years of construction and property maintenance experience from weekly projects and maintenance of an over 30,000 sq. ft. community center in Long Beach, CA. Additionally he's had many years of professional business experience from managing a painting business, leading many teams in non-profit work, and leading projects in his work in Higher Education.
Both have over 4 years in sustainable and regenerative landscape design experience from developing a thriving permaculture community garden and informal consultations with a number of people.
Our Journey
Kat and Emmanuel are a married team, who are the owners and operators of Naturewise Regenerative Design.
Their official business journey started in Spring 2020 at the onset of the global pandemic. Together they planned and organized the creation of garden in Long Beach, CA at a vibrant community center.
Leveraging their years of gardening and construction experience and with a small group of volunteers they depaved many tons of asphalt, regenerated the life of over 600 square feet of soil, and established a thriving, regenerative garden that is rich with an ecosystem of life that feeds many in the community and nature.
This motivating experience led them to deepening their education taking a year long Permaculture Design certificate program. Hosted by Geoff Lawton and the Permaculture Research Institute, they gained the knowledge and skills to help others do this regenerative work in a variety of situations, climates, and scales.
